Shutdown in IIOJK marks martyrdom anniversary of Burhan Wani

Srinagar, July 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed, today, on the fifth martyrdom anniversary of prominent youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and supported by other Hurriyat organisations.

Shops and other business establishments are closed while vehicular movement on the roads is thin.

Burhan Wani along with two associates was martyred by Indian troops in a fake encounter in Kokernag area of Islamabad district on this day in 2016. Burhan Wani’s extrajudicial killing triggered a mass uprising in the occupied territory and during the anti-India demonstrations in the next several months, Indian troops and police killed over 120 innocent protesters.
