Global pressure forces Modi to cancel Amarnath Yatra

New Delhi, June 21 (KMS): Already under pressure from the international community for allowing Kumbh Mela, which triggered coronavirus cases in India on a massive scale, Narendra Modi-led Indian government has been forced to cancel the annual Amarnath Yatra, the Hindu pilgrimage to icy cave shrine in Kashmir.

The Amarnath Shrine Board while cancelling the event in a statement said, “Based upon the circumstances, the Board decided with heavy heart that it is not advisable to hold and conduct this year’s Amarnath Yatra and expressed its regret to announce the cancellation of Yatra 2020.”
