‘HR abuses by Indian troops in IIOJK threat to regional peace’

Islamabad, June 12 (KMS): The Convener of AJK chapter of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat forum, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi has said that the systematic and massive human rights violations by Indian forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir cannot stop the Kashmiris from demanding their promised right to self-determination.

Syed Faiz Naqshbandi in a statement issued in Islamabad said, there is neither freedom of expression nor freedom of religion in IIOJK and even right to life is missing under Indian occupation. The heavy deployment of Indian forces and massive human rights violations by Indian troops is imminent threat to regional peace and security, he said.

Syed Faiz Naqshbandi said, there are reports that India is plotting to further divide IIOJK and change its demography to perpetuate its illegal hold over the territory. This is clear violation of the international law and the relevant United Nations resolutions, he said.

“India can neither change the disputed status of Kashmir as enshrined in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions nor can it force Kashmiris to accept illegal outcomes. Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory and Pakistan will continue to oppose Indian attempts of changing the demographic structure of the territory through military might,” he added.

Syed Faiz Naqshbandi said, the Indian government and its forces in IIOJK did not allow the Kashmiris to offer congregational Juma prayers in historic Jamia Masjid, Dargah Hazratbal and other major mosques, shrines and imambargahs in Srinagar and other areas of the occupied territory. Arbitrary detentions, extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances are part of systematic ongoing violations of human rights by Indian forces in IIOJK, he said.

He said, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani are in continued arbitrary house arrest and other Hurriyat leaders including Aasiya Andrabi, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Shahid-ul-Islam, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Syed Shahid Yousuf, Syed Shakeel Yousuf, Naheeda Nasreen, Fehmeeda Sofi, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Zahoor Ahmed and other innocent Kashmiris have been languishing in jails of India and IIOJK.

The condition of detainees in Indian jails is very pathetic and there is no provision of any medical care and treatment, he deplored and called upon the international community to take cognizance of the situation.
