Pak-India civil societies urged to contribute to peace process
Srinagar, June 10 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian leader, Agha Syed Muntazir Mehdi, has urged India and Pakistan to give up stereotypical thinking and prejudices and look at each other as human societies.
Agha Syed Muntazir addressing telephonically from Srinagar a webinar on “Role of Civil Society in Indo-Pak relations” organized by Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, said, despite the three wars the countries have fought, the people of India and Pakistan have great chance to contribute to the peace process as there is no animosity on people to people level. Unfortunately the positive energy has not been exploited adequately, he added.
He said that media had to play a constructive role in the hour of crisis to propagate and strengthen positive attitudes for the resolution of all the outstanding issues, especially the Kashmir dispute and discourage escalation of conflict and adventurism that jeopardize peace and prosperity of both the countries.
