New Delhi, June 09 (KMS): A hospital in the Indian city of Agra will be sealed following the death of 22 patients reportedly due to a shortage of oxygen.
Shree Paras Hospital is being sealed after a video surfaced in which the hospital owner was heard saying that the oxygen supply was stopped in a “mock drill”.
The purported video showed a doctor admitting that 22 people died after he shut oxygen for five minutes during the drill.
District Magistrate (DM) Agra Prabhu N Singh said a case would be registered against the hospital under the Epidemic Act. There are 55 patients admitted to the hospital, who will be shifted to another medical facility by a team of the CMO (Chief Medical Officer).
The DM said that all deaths in the hospital were being audited by the CMO’s team. He said comments in the viral video spread fear among the public.
On the other hand, the hospital management denied that any mock drill had been done to stop oxygen.
Meanwhile, Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, demanded strict action against those responsible for the reported death of 22 people at the hospital in Agra due to shortage of oxygen. “There is an acute shortage of oxygen and humanity in BJP rule. There should be strict action against those responsible for this heinous crime. My condolences are with the family members of the deceased in this hour of grief,” he said in a tweet in Hindi.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also shared the doctor’s video on Twitter, and questioned who was responsible for the death of 22 patients.
