India should release IIOJK detainees to decongest jails: Shabbir Dar

Srinagar, 17 May (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Chairman Shabbir Ahmed Dar has expressed serious concern over the steep rise in Covid positive cases in IIOJK jails.

Shabbir Dar in a statement said, the pandemic has posed a serious threat to the lives of thousands of Kashmiri prisoners who are languishing in different Indian and Kashmiri jails. The positive reports of 72 inmates from Udhampur jail have sent shock waves across the territory as many Kashmiri sons and daughters are in jails in fabricated cases.

The Udhampur jail housed martyred leader Mohammad Ashraf Khan Sehrai also. The international community must step in to help release Kashmiri prisoners amid Covid crisis in India and IIOJK.

He asked the occupational authorities to implement their Supreme Court order to decongest jails by releasing majority of the prisoners. India is not in a position to fight Covid on its own so the sanity demands that It should release all Kashmiri prisoners immediately. He strongly condemned the arrest of two sons of Shaheed Sehrai.
