Srinagar, February 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, All Jammu and Kashmir Students Union (AJKSU) has announced to stand with the students and professors of Ramjas College and other institutions in their fight to protect the right to free speech and dissent. AJKSU in its statement issued in Srinagar deplored the hooliganism and violence unleashed by the members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on students and teachers in the University of Delhi. ABVP hooligans assaulted the students and teachers and brutally beat them, besides vandalizing university property.

As per the statement, Delhi police instead of filing FIR against assaulters, detained many peaceful protestors, who were demanding right to speech. “The violence began with the ABVP’s disruption of an event organized by Ramjas Literary Society titled ‘Cultures of Protest’, on 21st February, Tuesday,” the statement said.

AJKSU Syed Tajamul Imran talked to the student activists from Delhi including Umar Khalid and expressed his support to them, the statement added.

AJKSU has exhibited solidarity with students and professors who are demanding preservation of right to free speech and dissent.
