Victims of blockade, more trucks torched in IHK

Srinagar, August 21 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, at least two-dozen Kashmiri truckers were critically injured and torched, when Hindu extremist mobs attacked their vehicles on Samba-Jammu Highway.

An injured truck driver, Ashiq Hussain of Harnag Islamabad, who was carrying fruit for Delhi markets said that the rioters mob with iron rods and sticks forced him to stop the truck and fractured his right arm and thrashed his conductor.

President of Fruit Growers Association, Ghulam Rasool Butt, told media men that three fruit-laden trucks who had left for Delhi markets on Tuesday were attacked and torched in Samba by rioters, adding  “We have no information about the whereabouts of the truckers and the conductors of the vehicle torched by the mob. Even we have no information about the other two trucks.”

Talking to media men in Srinagar over phone from Lakhanpur-Kathua Highway, a Kashmiri trucker, Abdur Rehman, said, “At least 50 Kashmiri trucks, which were on way to Kashmir from Delhi, are stuck on the highway since early Tuesday morning. We were stopped by police and asked to wait for orders. They allowed the vehicles from Punjab and Jammu but arrested us. A group of rioters attacked us and injured 20 truckers and conductors late afternoon.”

He said, “ We are alone. Our life is in danger now. There is no police to provide us security. We fear the rioters might again attack us in the night,” Rehman added. The claim of puppet authorities that trucks would be escorted by police on the highway is all hoax,” Rehman pointed out.

Two other fruit laden trucks (No JK03A/4365 and JK03A/8456) that had left for Delhi from Charar-i-Sharief in Budgam on Tuesday were also attacked by mobs in Samba. According to eyewitnesses, a truck (No JK028/8821) loaded with pesticides was attacked and torched by mob at Sarnal in Jammu.

Meanwhile, eight empty tankers were also attacked by the rioters at Sidra in Jammu.
