Srinagar, May 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, despite intervention of the so-called State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), family of a mason who was killed in a fake encounter in Poonch district in 2002, is being intimidated by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Police to withdraw the case.
The mason, Kala Khan, was killed by the troops of 40 Rashtriya Rifles and the SOG personnel on September 12, 2002.
The SHRC, which is investigating the case, had last month castigated the police for causing inordinate delay in completing the probe asking the police to complete investigation of the case by June 2. It had also directed the police to ensure security of the victim’s son, Tariq Mehmood, after he had informed the commission that some SOG personnel were threatening him of dire consequence if he did not withdraw the case against them from the commission.
