UK for resolving Kashmir dispute as per Kashmiris aspirations

London, May 31 (KMS): The United Kingdom fully supporting the ongoing composite dialogue process between Pakistan and India hoped that it will lead to a durable solution of the Kashmir dispute.

This was stated by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office South Asia Group in response to a recent petition submitted to the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown on 25th of April seeking his help in addressing the Kashmir issue and human rights concerns.  The petition was submitted by a delegation of the Kashmir Centre London led by the Executive Director of the Centre, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl.
 
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office in their response said, "The United Kingdom fully supports ongoing composite dialogue process and confidence building measures between Pakistan and India. We hope that it will lead to concrete improvements in the lives of those on either side of the line of control."

It further said that the British Government continues to urge both the countries to seek a durable resolution to the Kashmir dispute, which takes into account the wishes of the Kashmiri people. They also shared their concern about the human rights violations in the occupied territory and called for an improvement in the rights situation.
