Troops barged into houses, abuses women in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 30  (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh acts of state terrorism, martyred two more innocent youth at two different places.

Indian troops of 24-Rashtriya Rifles during crackdown operation killed one youth at Kachpathir Mamar in Kangan and another youth Imtiyaz Ahmad Mandoo was martyred by Indian Central Reserve Police Force personnel with indiscriminate firing at Bemina in Srinagar. Troops assaulted senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, at Bemina, where he had gone to join the funeral prayers of the Indian state terrorism’s victim.

Indian Central Reserve Police Force troopers thrashed every passer-by, including children and detained many youth in Srinagar and Baramulla districts.

Indian troopers barged into residential houses, fired tear smoke shells and thrashed the inmates, including women and children at Nowshera in Srinagar while 78 persons were beat up in Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama and Islamabad districts. The troopers beat up and critically injured a reporter of London-based journal, Kashmir Affairs, SF Ahmed and destroyed his videotapes at Sanat Nagar in the city.

Indian Central Reserve Police Force personnel barged into the houses and abused women at Shaheed Gunj, Habba Kadal and adjoining areas of Srinagar city.  An elderly person, Ghulam Ahmad of Shaheed Gunj said, “After the protest demonstrations, the CRPF personnel barged into our houses and misbehaved with the women. They abused our mothers and sisters. By resorting to such acts, they want to prevent us from participating in protests against the transfer of Kashmiris' land to non-Kashmiris' ”. A woman of Shaheed Gunj said that the paramilitary personnel abused her and her daughter. The residents said that “We will not stop our agitation and neither will tolerate abuse of our sisters, daughter and mothers”.

The residents of Haba-Kadal said that the troopers have vandalized more than 100 vehicles parked in the area. They accused the para-military personnel of also causing damage to houses. A pharmacist told media men that the CRPF personnel visited his medical shop and took medicine. “They left without paying for the medicines. When I asked them about the payment they warned me that if I demand money from them they would beat me and damage my shop. Fearing for my life, I decided against asking payment from them”. The residents of the area pointing towards the broken glass-panes of the houses said that these were damaged by the Indian troops, who hurled stones and bricks towards the houses. “After every protest demonstration, the CRPF personnel throw stones towards the houses, damaging the window panes”, they added.

“The troops forced their entry into our houses and beat up the inmates including females”, said Ishfaq Ahmad a residents of Safa-Kadal.
