Srinagar, June 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, taking strong note of custodial killing of three persons by the personnel of Indian army eight years ago in Doda, the so-called State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has directed the police to finalise the report regarding the case at the earliest.
The wives of Mohammad Amin, Abdul Majeed and Abdul Rashid, residents of Tendla village of Doda, filed a petition to the commission that their husbands were killed in custody by the troops of 5 Sikh Light Infantry on January 1, 2000. The petitioners said that the troops had summoned them for questioning at a camp in the village and later on killed them. Thirteen others were seriously injured by the troops.
The acting chairman of the commission, Habibullah Butt in his judgment observed that post-mortems reports of the victims and a magisterial inquiry had confirmed that they died due to injuries caused by the torture of the troops.
The commission took a dig at District Magistrate, Doda, for not taking any action against the culprits even after receiving the inquiry report.
