Hindu extremists given free hand to harass Muslims
Srinagar, July 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the threats of economic blockade by the extremist Hindu organisations of Jammu against the people of Kashmir valley have caused widespread resentment.
The spokesman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference in a statement condemning the threats said that the Indian government was encouraging Hindu fanatic groups in their activities against the Muslims of the occupied territory.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani deplored that the Hindu communal organisations in Jammu were given free hand to victimise the Muslim population and target Muslim’s properties and religious centres.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik talking to mediamen in Srinagar demanded an immediate opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road in view of threats of economic blockade by the Hindu groups of Jammu.
Meanwhile, hundreds of the activists of Hindu organisations damaged several vehicles at Srinagar-Jammu highway while preventing them from carrying essential commodities towards the Kashmir valley. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded as the miscreants blocked even the by-pass roads.
On the other hand, addressing a function organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi in the southern town of Islamabad, senior APHC leader, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt emphasised that the ongoing dialogue process between India and Pakistan cannot be meaningful without resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with Kashmiris’ aspirations. The function was organised to pay homage to prominent martyred liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Malik. APHC leader, Muhammad Azam Inqalabi also addressed on the occasion.
In Srinagar, Indian police personnel subjected dozens of demonstrators to heavy lathi charge and excessive teargas shelling in areas around Maisuma, Basant Bagh and Residency Road. They were protesting against the arrest of five youth.
