India has turned IHK into detention centre
Srinagar, May 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities have placed veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani under house arrest to prevent him from holding a public meeting in Dargah Hazratbal, tomorrow.
Syed Ali Gilani had announced that from the dargah he would launch a district-wise awareness campaign to highlight the plight of illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyet leaders and activists.
The veteran leader in his statement in Srinagar said that India had turned the territory into a detention centre and the troops were using brute tactics to suppress the Kashmiris’ peaceful liberation struggle.
The spokesman of Democratic Freedom Party in a statement in Srinagar flayed the authorities for invoking draconian laws against the detained leaders and activists.
APHC leader Zafar Akbar Butt, talking to the families of victims of military violence in Tailbal, Lal Bazar and Haba Kadal urged India to stop human rights violations in the territory.
On the other hand, the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a condolence message to the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari expressed his grief and sorrow over the demise of his father, Hakim Ali Zardari.
Four persons were killed and 11 others injured in lightning incidents in Samba, Rajouri, Poonch and Udhampur districts, today.
