Sopur residents being provided contaminated water

Srinagar, December 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the residents of Sopur have said that the occupation authorities are putting their lives at stake by providing them contaminated water.  

Residents of half dozen localities including Mahrajpora, Takibal, Naseerabad,Mohalla Taliyan, Bona Mohalla, Mohalla  Shiekh Sahab  told media men that for the past five years the department concerned has been providing them unhygienic water from Mahrajpora water supply scheme, set up five years back.

“The scheme was aimed at alleviating pressure on the Wutlab water supply scheme, which provided water to whole population of town, but the scheme added to our woes as poisonous water is pumped to our houses from there,” said Fayaz Ahmed of Mahrajpora.

He said every year deadly water-borne diseases break here. Hepatitis, jaundice and other water-borne diseases are common here and the authorities are aware of the fact but they have not found a solution to it till date,” he added.

Many residents said that they were purchasing drinking water or fetching it from other areas.
