Snowfall blocks Srinagar-Jammu highway

Srinagar, February 04 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, fresh snowfall across the Kashmir Valley has resulted in the blockade of the Srinagar-Jammu highway while an avalanche warning has been issued for people living in the higher reaches.

"Fresh heavy snowfall in the Bannihal area has resulted in the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway for traffic," an official of the traffic department told media men.

The disaster management cell Jammu has issued an avalanche warning for the higher reaches of Machil, Keran, Tanghdhar, Chowkibal, Gurez and Uri areas.

People living in these avalanche-prone areas have been advised not to move out of their homes.
