Srinagar, June 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, two brothers languishing in Delhi’s Tihar jail for the past 13 years on fake charges have written about their plight to their sister.
The sister, Roohi Mirza narrating the wretched tale of her two brothers, Iftikhar Hussain Mirza and Nisar Ahmad Mirza to mediamen here said that her brothers were arrested by Delhi police in 1996 without any justification, adding, “We came to know through television that our brothers were arrested.” She further said, “My brothers are living in a place like hell. Due to our financial problems we have not met them for the past three years.”
Giving the details of the letter, Roohi said, “Besides physical and mental torture, they are being deprived of basic facilities including medical care. They are not provided with any legal aid.”
Human rights activists say that this letter puts a question mark on the organizations like International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC) about their role in redressing the grievances of detainees.
