Shifting of detainees outside valley denouced

Sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs not to go waste

Srinagar, January 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the shifting of illegally detained Kashmiris by the authorities from the jails of Kashmir Valley to the jails in Jammu region has widely been denounced.

The veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement issued from New Delhi described the action as political vendetta aimed at subjecting the detainees to physical and mental torture. He gave a call for peaceful protests in the occupied territory on Friday after Juma prayers and complete shutdown on 7th of February to protest against the move.

The Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi, in her statement said that the present puppet regime had broken all the records of tyranny. She said that the move of shifting the detainees was aimed at depriving them of meeting their relatives.

The Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in its statement demanded an unconditional release of all Kashmiri prisoners languishing in various jails.

On the other hand, addressing a function in Srinagar, the speakers including Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Mian Abdul Qayoom, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai and Muhammad Ahsan Untoo said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs, which had centre-staged the Kashmir dispute at global level, would not be allowed to go waste. The function was organised to commemorate the 2nd martyrdom anniversary of a youth, Wamiq Farooq, who was killed after being hit by a teargas shell of Indian police on this day in 2010.

Senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah visited the family of martyred youth and on the occasion said that the people of Kashmir would accomplish the mission of their martyrs at all costs.

Hurriyet leaders, Yasmeen Raja, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt and Farooq Ahmed Dar in their separate statements paid rich tributes to Wamiq Farooq.
