London, February 05 (KMS): Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl, the Executive Director of Kashmir Centre London, has expressed concern over the arrest of Hurriyet leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Firdous Ahmad Shah in occupied Kashmir.
Professor Shawl, in a statement issued in London said that arrest of the leaders was aimed at impeding the Kashmiris’ struggle for right to self-determination. He said that denying the political space and preventing every voice of dissent was unethical and in contravention to accepted norms of freedom of expression.
Professor Shawl emphasised that despite of all repressive techniques by India, the people of Jammu and Kashmir would hold aloft the banner of self-determination, as they believed that repression was just a hurdle which in no way could deter them for achieving their goal.
The Executive Director appealed to all the democratic forces of the world to take notice of maltreatment meted out to the illegally detained Hurriyet leaders in occupied Kashmir and raise voice for their unconditional and immediate release.
