Shaikh Aziz concerned over harassment of Kashmiris

Srinagar, July 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Shaikh Abdul Aziz has strongly condemned the harassment and torture of Kashmiris by the personnel of Indian Special Task Force.

The APHC leader in a statement in Srinagar said that STF personnel were conducting raids in various areas of Islamabad, Pulwama and Pampore to harass people specially those who actively participated in the recent successful protests against land transfer order. He added that besides torturing Hurriyet activists, the shopkeepers of the area were being subjected to inhuman treatment by the troops.

The APHC leader maintained that the people who got injured due to troops’ use of force during the recent protests were deprived of medical facilities in hospitals and the doctors treating them were threatened of dire consequences.  He denounced in strong terms such shameful acts and termed them the worst kind of human rights violations.

Meanwhile, the APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the plight of 35 detainees at CIK camp, Humhama. He pointed out that the detainees, brought from different jails, were being served sub standard food. Most of these detainees, he added, were suffering from serious ailments and denied medical facilities. The Spokesman appealed to the human rights organizations to take cognisance of these excesses on detainees.
