Srinagar, June 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the legal experts have said that the puppet administration’s claim that the Amarnath shrine board would not pursue the land transfer was an attempt to subdue the current uprising.
In a media interview to a local daily, the experts warned that the claim on the land could be revived any time until the earlier order is revoked unambiguously.
The president of Jammu and Kashmir Bar Association, Nazir Ahmed Ronga calling for rescinding of the land transfer order said, “To prevent the alteration of the demography of the territory and to protect its valuable forest assets, the regime should rescind the land transfer order.” Ronga said Kashmiris are not against the Yatris, adding that the pilgrims are the guests of Kashmiris.
Senior lawyer, Syed Tassaduq Hussain said that puppet Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad’s claim that the Amarnath shrine board would not pursue for the land for yatris and that the arrangements for the yatra will be carried out by the puppet administration is a statement to diffuse the political uprising in the Valley. He said that the statement is not a guarantee that SASB would not lay claim on the land at some favourable time adding, “Unless the land transfer order is revoked in unequivocal terms, the SASB can acquire the land any time in the years ahead.”
Another senior legal expert, Zaffar Ahmed Qureshi said that the land transferred to SASB is an open order. “Mere saying that the board does not need to pursue it does not deprive it of the land. It can revive the claim and acquire it anytime it deems fit,” he added.
