Srinagar, April 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people in Ganderbal took to the streets on second consecutive day, to protest against the arrest of two youth by Indian police. The protestors blocked Srinagar-Leh highway near Beehama Chowk for several hours. Personnel of Special Operation Group (SOG) arrested two youth, Mudasir Ahmad Baba and Aijaz Ahmad Tantray of Saloora village a few days ago.
The protesters said that Indian troops were harassing the people of the area for the past several days, adding that the troops of 5-Rahtriya Rifles raided the house of Ghulam Muhammad Baba and abused him and other family members for unknown reasons.
In Keller, Pulwama, private vehicle operators staged a protest demonstration against Indian troops and police for snatching their vehicles. The agitating drivers burnt tyres on roads and blocked traffic on Pulwama-Shopian road for several hours. They said that the troops and police have made it a routine to force the vehicle operators to accompany them for tour and operational purposes.
Meanwhile, in Srinagar, thousands of employees including women staged a protest rally against anti-people policies of the puppet regime, which was organised under the aegis of the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC). The protesters chanting anti-administration slogans began their march from Deputy Commissioner’s office and then passed through the commercial hub, Lal Chowk.
