Protests continue against land transfer in IHK

APHC chairman to meet Syed Ali Gilani tomorrow

Srinagar, 18 June (KMS): In Srinagar, the Hurriyet leaders and activists continued their protests today against the transfer of forestland in the occupied territory to a New Delhi based Hindu body, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.

A sit in was staged in the Regal Chowk of Srinagar, where the protesters carrying big placards denounced the land grabbing episode and appealed the international community to impress upon India to cancel puppet regime’s land transfer order. They urged India to stop working on changing the demographic composition of occupied Kashmir. A signature campaign continued in the interior localities of the city to register widespread resentment against the transfer.

The All Parties Hurriyet Conference in a strongly worded statement in Srinagar today said that the Indian government in connivance with the puppet regime and Shri Amarnath Shrine Board was implementing an abominable plan to convert Kashmiri Muslim’s majority into a minority. The statement said that the plan would be strongly resisted by the people of Kashmir.

Talking to mediamen in Srinagar, the President of Bar Association of occupied Kashmir, Nazir Ahmed Ronga maintained that the transfer of land to the Hindu board was in stark contravention of the prevalent laws and if the puppet administration did not cancel the transfer, the Bar would launch a forceful agitation against the decision.

On the other hand, the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq will hold an extra-ordinary meeting with senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani in Srinagar tomorrow to discuss the ongoing developments regarding the resolution of Kashmir dispute. Both the leaders will discuss the ways to forge further unity among the pro-movement parties and leaders to make Kashmiris’ liberation struggle more effective and meaningful.
