Liberation leaders condemn police action

Srinagar, June 24 (KMS): In Srinagar, protest demonstrations, marked with complete strike, were held today, against the use of brute force by Indian Central Reserve Police Force on the peaceful protesters, the previous day.

At least one youth was martyred and scores were injured in Srinagar when police subjected the demonstrators to brute force protesting against the transfer of 800 Kanals of forestland to Delhi based Shri Amarnath Shrine Board. Thousands of people including APHC leader Nayeem Ahmed Khan participated in the funeral prayer of the martyred youth at Eidgah in Srinagar today.

People took to the streets in different areas of Srinagar, today, and expressed their anger against the police action. The police again subjected the demonstrators to severe baton charge and heavy tear smoke shelling injuring many persons, three of them critically. The protesters on the occasion raised full-throated anti-India and pro-liberation slogans. The Kashmir Bar Association also staged a separate protest demonstration in Srinagar against the transfer of land and killing of the youth.

The acting Chairman of APHC, Maulana Abbas Ansari, senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and the JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Kashmir Bar President, Nazir Ahmed Ronga in their separate statements in Srinagar strongly condemned the police brutalities against the protesters.

<b>Ali Gilani, Shabbir Shah house arrested</b>

The puppet administration has put Syed Ali Gilani under house arrest while senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah has already bean under house arrest since yesterday.

Meanwhile, strike was also observed and protest demonstrations were held in Islamabad district, today, after the exhumation of a fake encounter victim of Kokernag village.
