81 Indian troops commit suicide since Jan 2007

Srinagar, May 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops, in their continued acts of state terrorism, martyred 46 innocent Kashmiris, including five in custody, during the last month of April.

The data revealed that six Kashmiris went missing in custody, 118 were arrested and 139 persons were injured when the troops subjected them to severe torture. The troops molested seven women and destroyed 23 residential houses during the month.

A forceful protest demonstration marked with a complete strike was held at Velgam in Handwara today, against the killing of a 9th class student in custody by Indian troops. The protesters on the occasion raised high pitched anti-India and pro-liberation slogans. People took to the streets against anti-people policies of the puppet regime in Handwara and Mendhar town of Poonch district. Enraged people on the occasion raised slogans against the administration.

Meanwhile, an Indian trooper committed suicide by jumping into a river at Kither in Doda, bringing suicide killings among Indian troops to 81 since January 2007. Another Indian trooper was killed by one of his colleagues at Gumgund in Kupwara.

Over 30 labourers were buried under a massive landslide in Kishtwar.
