No peace in SA without Kashmir settlement: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, July 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, stressing the need to involve Kashmiris in the dialogue process between India and Pakistan, has emphasised that resolution of Kashmir is imperative for peace and stability in South Asia.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said this while presiding over an extraordinary meeting of the APHC’s Executive Council in Srinagar. The meeting was attended by Maulana Abbas Ansari, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Bilal Ghani Lone, Shaikh Abdul Aziz, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi and Fazl Haq Qureshi.

The APHC Chairman maintained that recent public uprising against Indian illegal occupation showed that India could not suppress Kashmiris’ voice by resorting to brute force. He added that the people of Kashmir were united and organised in their resistance against Indian occupation. Mirwaiz said that people should raise their voice in future also against the atrocities and injustice committed on them by the occupation forces.

Taking strong note of the attacks on Muslims in Jammu by Hindu fanatics, the APHC Chairman warned the communal forces to desist from giving rise to communal tensions. He deplored that Indian troops and police were hand-in-glove with the Hindu extremists, as they wanted to divide the people of Jammu and Kashmir on communal lines.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, leading a delegation of Hurriyat activists, visited Bemina and met the family of Imitiyaz Ahmad, who was martyred by Indian troops during the recent protests against the land transfer and paid rich tributes to him while expressing solidarity with the bereaved.
