No fruit trucks left for New Delhi, claim growers

Srinagar, August 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Sopore Fruit Growers Association has rejected claims of the puppet administration that 50 fruit-laden trucks left Sopore for New Delhi.

The President of the association, Haji Bashir Ahmad Beigh said that the fruit mandi has been closed for the past 15 days and not a single truck has left from mandi in the past two weeks.  He said a huge quantity of fruits packed in the boxes has rotten. Bashir Ahmad Beigh said that the growers had been emptying all packaging boxes to save them. A packaging box, he said, costs about Rs 50.

The growers maintained that the authorities were misleading people about the import and export of goods from the Valley. They also refuted the reports that growers had held talks with the transporters in the New Delhi. They pointed out that the growers had incurred huge losses due to the persistent blockade of the highway.
