Kashmiri sacrifices centre-staged Kashmir dispute
Srinagar, May 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, martyrdom week will be observed from May 16 to pay homage to Kashmiri martyrs and reaffirm the resolve to continue the liberation struggle till it reaches its logical end.
A complete strike will be observed on the martyrdom anniversaries of leading Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone on May 21. The announcement of the observance of the week was made by the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq during his address to a Juma congregation in Srinagar, today.
The APHC Chairman said that the martyrdom week would be marked with meetings of Quran Khawani, setting up of blood bank, seminars and public gatherings. He pointed out that the unparalleled sacrifices of Kashmiris have centre-staged the Kashmir dispute and the international community was fully cognisant of the urgency involved in the resolution of the dispute.
Protest demonstrations were held and Bejbehara-Pahalgam road was blocked by the protesters at Srigufwara against the arrest of three innocent youth by the troops in the area.
Meanwhile, the Statistics and Evaluation Department of occupied Kashmir in its latest report has warned that the continued conversion of cultivable land into Indian army camps is posing a serious threat of food scarcity in the territory.
