Srinagar, August 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani has termed the people’s march to office of the United Nations a referendum against the Indian occupation of Kashmir.
“The international community and Indian leadership must honour the referendum and accept the ground realities,” Gilani said during a meeting of the Hurriyat at his residence.
India, he added, must ensure the fundamental right of self-determination to the Kashmiri people. The people’s movement in the valley for the past several days has frustrated India,” the Hurriyet leader said while hailing people from across the valley for participating in the UN march. He said India would try its level best to crush the movement but people should be vigilant towards such designs.
He said that unity among leaders was need of the hour. “We will maintain unity at any cost,” he vowed. The Hurriyat leader reiterated that they would continue the movement till the achievement of their cherished goal of liberation. He called upon the people to march towards Eidgah on Friday to show the world that Kashmiris were united and would fight for their rights.
Meanwhile, various organizations have thanked the people for their mass participation in march to the UN office and demonstrating exemplary discipline.
Jamati-I-Islami Jammu and Kashmir said the discipline shown by lakhs of people was commendable. It regretted that the organizers had not made proper arrangements of public address system.
Thanking the people for turning up in lakhs and demonstrating discipline, the Jammu Kashmir Mass Movement hoped they would make the Eidgah Chalo programme a complete success.
