Madrid conference urges India to stop HR violations

Madrid, June 12 (KMS): Expressing grave concern over the unabated human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir, the speakers addressing Kashmir Conference in Madrid have emphasised that the resolution of Kashmir dispute is imperative for peace and stability in South Asia.

The conference was organized by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) in Madrid, the capital of Spain. Besides the Secretary of UPF, Dr Armando Lozano, the conference was addressed among others by Dr Hammad Ahmed Shah, Dr Tahir Ashiq, Professor Emilio Asti, Scholar of the Oriental Culture, Cahtolica Universtia Milano, Italy.

Dr Armando Lozano opened the conference and wished a peaceful solution to the Kashmir dispute from the part of the UPF.

Dr Hammad Ahmed Shah in his speech highly appreciated the efforts of the World community and the UPF in trying to solve the Kashmir dispute. He said that the dispute had stalled the progress of the people in occupied Kashmir as well as the prosperity of India and Pakistan, adding India should carry out demilitarization and stop the atrocities against the innocent civilians as the first step.

Dr Tahir Ashiq stressed that the solution of the dispute would open new opportunities of economic development and cooperation in the region. Terming the discovery of unnamed mass graves in occupied Kashmir as a very serious matter, he said that India should put an end to the enormous human rights violations in the territory.

Professor Emilio Asti explained the tragic situation of the people living in the occupied territory, adding that so many innocent Kashmiris had been brutally tortured and killed by the occupation forces. He appreciated the efforts made by the Azad Jammu & Kashmir government and Pakistan to make peace in the region through various reconciliation steps.

Professor Asti proposed for an international Conference on Kashmir with the participation of all the parties including Pakistan, India and Kashmiris.
