Kashmiris’ struggle is not communal: Gilani

Srinagar, July 11 (KMS): Senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has emphasised that massive agitation against transfer of Kashmiris’ land to non-Kashmiris testifies the fact that concessions and economic packages from New Delhi cannot suppress the sentiments of people of the occupied territory, struggling for their right to self determination.

Addressing a gathering in Pulwama, Syed Ali Gilani said that New Delhi should rethink its Kashmir policy and respect the aspirations of the people of the territory. He maintained that Kashmiris’ struggle is not a communal fight adding, “We are fighting to get back our land that has been occupied forcedly. The international community has accepted our birth right.”

Referring to the forthcoming so-called elections, the Hurriyet leader said that the periodical polls could not provide any solution to the Kashmir dispute.

Rebuffing the Indian claims of being a secular state, Syed Ali Gilani maintained, “Minorities are not safe in India. Indian secularism is a fraud. It is actually a Hindu state.”

Meanwhile, leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Muhammad Azam Inqalabi in a statement in Srinagar said that the people of Kashmir have rendered countless sacrifices for a greater cause of freedom from Indian illegal occupation. Terming the so-called elections as futile exercise, he said that such dramas in the past could not facilitate the settlement of longstanding Kashmir dispute.
