Kashmiris’ struggle based on equity and justice

Members of APHC delegation arrested in Srinagar

Srinagar, August 02 (KMS): In Srinagar, the speakers at a seminar today, reiterated that Kashmiris struggle for their right to self-determination was justified from all standards of established international norms and principles of equity.

The speakers including senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, prominent Kashmiri lawyer, Mian Abdul Qayoom, and Indian intellectual, Gautam Nowlakha deplored that the Kashmiri political prisoners were kept in continued detention in the most miserable condition in the jails of India and occupied Kashmir. They said that it was the responsibility of the International community to play its role in stopping state terrorism in the occupied territory. The speakers maintained that Indian troops were involved in gross human rights violations to suppress Kashmiris’ liberation struggle.

The members of the APHC delegation were arrested today while they were heading towards the United Nations Observers’ Office at Sonawar in Srinagar to present a memorandum to denounce the violent activities of Hindu extremist forces in Jammu region against the Muslim community. Anti-India protest, marked with complete strike, was held in Pampore today against subjecting a youth by the troops to sever torture.

Unidentified gunmen killed two persons one each in Srinagar and Reasi districts. An Indian trooper committed suicide by consuming poison at Dabad in Nowshera area of Rajouri, taking the death toll of such killings among the troops to 104 since January 2007.
