Kashmiri widow faces threats from Indian troops

Srinagar, May 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops and their agents are putting pressure on an old widow to withdraw a case against them and threatening her to face dire consequence otherwise.

Bakhti Begum, a resident of Rafiabad area of Baramulla, told mediamen that her son, Manzoor Ahmad was picked up by the troops of 28-Rashtriya Rifles and their agents on December 22, 2001 and later subjected to enforced disappearance and did not return since. She said that the troops also severely thrashed her when she resisted the arrest of Manzoor.

“I was constantly being threatened by the army and its agents after which the High Court granted me security,” she said adding that they are still threatening her to withdraw the case.

Bakhti Begum appealed to the human rights organizations to come to her rescue and provide justice to her.
