Kashmir dispute, a hot topic in IHK University

Srinagar, May 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, student scholars have commenced in a big way their studies on Kashmir conflict since 1990.

More than fifty percent of the student researchers are writing their PhD or M Phil thesis on the conflict and its related aspects. Before 1990 the percentage of the researchers who had Kashmir as the theme of their studies was mere 10 percent.

The scholars, however, criticize the little scholarship money, provided by the university and other necessary inputs. “We cannot move out of the held valley and have to rely on the information from local newspapers and books only,” the scholars say.

Dr Nazir Ahmad Sheikh of Kashmir University said that the Political Science department introduced M Phil degree in 1981, and till 2006, of the 35 M. Phil scholars, 21 students have chosen Kashmir issue as the subject of their studies.
