Jubilant Kashmiris celebrate land revocation order

Srinagar, July 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, delighted people celebrated the revocation of the forestland transfer order to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) in various parts of the valley.

As the news about the cancellation of land transfer decision broke out people took to streets in several places in Srinagar and burst firecrackers and distributed sweets. “It is our first major victory,” said a youth.

Raising pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans, people, mostly youth were celebrating the victory. “We are setting off firecrackers to express our joy as we made puppet administration cancel the land transfer order”, said another youth. Larger number of people took out a torchlight procession and danced in the streets to celebrate the land revocation order. One of the torchbearers, Maqbool Ahmed said, “This protest will tell India that any effort to change the demography of Kashmir will meet failure. Kashmiris are united to fight against the cultural imperialism which India is trying to impose over us.”

The largest procession was taken out from Maisuma area in which thousands of people took to the Lal Chowk shouting pro-freedom slogans. The procession passed through Gaw Kadal, Goni-Khan, Saraibala, Mahraja Bazar. Many people, who were watching the procession from their windows, threw almonds and candies over the people. One of the youth, Altaf participating in the procession, told a local daily, “This is the first time India has bowed before the aspirations of Kashmiris.”

In Sopore town, people celebrated the decision by holding a march. Shouting pro-freedom slogans, hundreds of ecstatic people took to the streets and burst firecrackers.

People thronged Lal Chowk area in Islamabad and termed the puppet administrations decision as a huge victory for the Kashmiri people who launched a movement to counter the move. Large number of people came out on the Pulwama Chowk after the news reached the area. People burst firecrackers celebrating the victory.
