JKLF for complete strike on Feb 11

Srinagar, February 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has called for a complete shutdown on February 11 to mark the 27th martyrdom anniversary of prominent martyred Kashmiri liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt.

This was stated in a meeting chaired by JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik at the party headquarters in Srinagar. Maqbool Butt was hanged by the Indian government in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail on Feb 11, 1984.

He said that the party would also hold seminars and rallies across the Valley prior to the February 11 shutdown. “It was also decided in the meeting that a peaceful protest march will be taken out from Lal Chowk to United Nations Observers Group office at Sonawar on Friday, February 10.

Besides Jammu and Kashmir, similar rallies will be held on the day and the next day in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, America, London and Europe by Kashmiris to pay tributes to Mohammad Maqbool Butt and in favour of return of his mortal remains from Delhi’s Tihar Jail,” the participants of the meeting maintained.
