Srinagar, February 12 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JI) has demanded immediate abrogation of draconian laws which vest special and unbridled powers to Indian troops to commit atrocities on innocent people with impunity.

The JI spokesman in a statement In Srinagar said, “Harassment, humiliation, ruthless beating and even killing of innocent and unarmed civilians have been troops’ routine task for the last 20 years. These incidents are always followed by false assurances of probe by the puppet administration.” He said that the fact is that how can a probe by impartial when it conducted by such an official who himself is a part of the system in which the atrocities are committed. A probe can be result-oriented only when it is conducted by some impartial person or agency.

The Spokesman also strongly condemned the use of brute force by the Indian Central Reserve Police Force personnel upon the shopkeepers and other civilians of Maisuma and adjoining areas.
