Srinagar, March 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Jammu and Kashmir has condemned the Indian Police for torturing Shakeel Ahmad Ahangar, the relative of two Kashmiri women, raped and murdered in Shopian, last year, by Indian troops.
The spokesman of JI, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said that the authorities had deliberately tried to hush up the Shopian case and to shield the guilty troopers. “The unnecessary delay caused by the authorities in apprehending the troopers, involved in the crime have embroiled the relatives of the victims and Shakeel’s anger is natural in this regard,” he added.
He said that the police used brute force to quell the peaceful demonstrators who protested against the delay in arresting the culprits and subjected the family members to mental torture.
The JI spokesman demanded of the puppet administration to conduct an independent inquiry into the dual rape and murder case by an international organisation, so that the criminals could be brought to justice.
