Indian troops occupying golf course in Pahalgam

Srinagar, May 21 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian army has erected at least 20 tents and many lavatories in the under-construction golf course in Pahalgam without the permission of Pahalgam Development Authority, causing considerable damage to the course turf apart from threatening ecology of the place.

The excavation work on the golf course was started a few months ago for expanding it from nine holes to 18 holes to attract the tourists. The project is estimated to cost Rs 4.32 crores and is expected to be ready by the end of October.

The residents of the area told mediapersons that the troops were seen carrying sandbags for construction of temporary bunkers inside. They maintained that heavy presence of army vehicles has turned the golf course into a parking area, which is hampering the construction works and would delay the completion of the project in the given time.
