Indian troops detains trekkers in Baramulla

Srinagar, July 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, strong resentment is brewing in Baramulla district against the arrest of the trekkers including foreigners by the Indian troops.

The villagers told a local daily that the mountaineers, mostly foreigners could not freely undertake the trekking on routes like Kolahai, Tattakuti and Gangabal areas of the district due to heavy presence of troops.  “We will protest and launch an agitation against the Army if the trekkers are not released immediately,” the locals said. 

A group of trekkers including Micheal from USA, Onica from Germany, Daniel a US-based photojournalist working for National Geographic Magazine, Jake, a British citizen also a photojournalist with National Geographic, Nikhil from Kerala, Anastina Guha a British citizen and a reporter for Tehelka along with seven guides were arrested by the troops from upper reaches of Rafiabad area of the district and detained at Ladu Ladoora.
