Jammu, April 25 (KMS): The Indian Defence Ministry is reported to have taken a very serious notice of repeated incidents of Indian troops killing their seniors or committing suicides during official duty.
The Defence Ministry has written to all chief ministers of the Indian States and the occupied Kashmir administration to set up special cells at district level to attend to the problems of the army personnel on top priority basis.
Most of such killings have, however, been reported in occupied Kashmir, the latest one being reported from Vishnoo Devi in Reasi district, where a trooper had gunned down his two colleagues before committing suicide.
It is said that besides problems back home including family, marital and land disputes, the major reasons were denial of leave and harassment by seniors, which compel the troops taking to extreme steps of committing suicides or killing their colleagues.
