Srinagar, July 18 (KMS): The Government of India has approved the Defence Ministry’s proposal to raise five more police battalions in Indian army in occupied Kashmir.
Director general police (DGP) Kuldeep Khoda talking to mediamen said that the recruitment for these new battalions would start after the authorities issued the required order. The sanction was received by the puppet administration after the 15th Indian Reserve Police (IRP) Battalion was recruited recently in occupied territory.
Director general police said once the recruitment of these five battalions was done, they would have 20 IRP Battalions, adding that they may require 400 additional companies of paramilitary forces in occupied territory.
In the last month of June, Indian Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh had also approved the Defence Ministry’s proposal to raise two new mountain divisions for occupied Kashmir. The mountain divisions having air elements including gunship helicopter and choppers were stationed along the Line of Control in the territory. Each division with personnel strength of 10,000 to 13,000 troops has a minimum of three brigades. Already the Indian army has 10 divisions dedicated to mountain warfare and another infantry division earmarked for high altitude operations.
It is worth mentioning here that deployment of more divisions of Indian army in the occupied territory is taking place despite claims of Indian government and puppet authorities that normalcy has returned to the territory.
