India must accept centrality of Kashmir dispute: APHC

Srinagar, April 28 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has emphasised that it would consider resuming peace talks with the Indian government, if it is serious in resolving the Kashmir dispute.

Senior APHC leader, Maulana Abbas Ansari in a media interview said this while reacting to Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s proposal to resume talks during his two-day visit to the occupied territory.

The APHC leader maintained that India should first initiate the peace process by releasing the Kashmiri political prisoners languishing in different jails in occupied Kashmir and India. He added that the talks should revolve around Kashmir only.

Another senior APHC leader Professor Abdul Ghani Butt said, “We have always been in favour of settling the Kashmir dispute through dialogue,” adding, “Bilateral talks are good but tri-lateral dialogue can be a better option and a stage will come when the Indian government will realise the need and importance of tripartite talks involving Pakistan, India and Kashmiris’ genuine leadership."
