IHK court quashes PSA detention order of 8 civilians

Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court quashed the detention order of eight civilians who were illegally detained under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) in different jails.

Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain of Srinagar High Court ordered an immediate release of 70-year old civilian Ghulam Ahmad Khan and Ghulam Muhammad Butt after quashing their detentions.

Justice Bashir Ahmad Kirmani and Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir also ordered immediate release of Bashir Ahmad Rather, Zahoor Ahmad Khandey, Mohammad Shaif Rahter, Muzaffar Ahmad Lone, Mohammad Iqbal Wani and Shamim Ahmad Sofi who were arrested on fake charges and puppet authorities detained them under draconian Public Safety Act.

The judgments came after the court acted on a writ petition challenging the orders of detention on various grounds filed by senior advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, Advocate Mir Shafqat Hussain, Advocate Bashir Ahamd Tak, Advocate Ghulam Nabi Shaheen, Advocate Awais Gilani and Advocate Mohammad Ashraf Wani.
