IHK court directs police to produce arrest record of civilians

Srinagar, July 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a local court has directed police authorities to produce arrest records of five persons including a woman who have been arrested on fake charges in 2006.

Counsel for the accused said that the arresting of these innocent civilians including Muhammad Yousuf Dagga, Waseem Raja, Muhammad Rafi alias Mudasir Gujjar and Zahida was a conspiracy hatched by police personnel for their so-called involvement in the attack on the Indian Congress rally at Municipal Park in June 2006.

Police had claimed that Mudasir was killed when he had tried to run away from custody at Doda where he was taken for investigation, counsel for the accused said. In his argument, the counsel said that if the police had received a tip off about the presence of the accused at Dalgate in Srinagar and accordingly rushed a search party to the spot for arresting them on July 30, 2006, it should have entered the details about rushing the searching party and arrests made in the daily record book. But police had not produced the details despite orders from the court, the counsel added.

Principal district and sessions judge while passing the orders snubbed the police for delaying the production of records and legal proceedings in the case.
