IHK commission asks for financial aid to custodial victim’s family

Srinagar, June 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the so-called Human Rights Commission has asked the puppet regime to pay three lakh rupees as monetary relief to the next of kin of a custodial victim.

The Indian troops subjected the deceased to torture during his unlawful detention at Police Station Pacca Danga in Jammu and he succumbed to his injuries few months after his release.

The Commission's direction came in response to a complaint registered by the family members of the deceased. Official reports revealed that a complaint was submitted before the Commission wherein it was said that the personnel of Indian army Intelligence agency arrested Banarasi Das along with his two sons on May 2, 2000 for their suspected involvement in espionage.

Banarsi Das's sons were let off the same day but he was unlawfully detained and flogged to such an extent that he became permanently crippled. He was released on May 9, 2000 in total paralytic condition. Banarasi Das succumbed to his injuries on October 19, 2000.
