Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a Srinagar court directed the occupation authorities to submit details of travel records of Major Avtar Singh wanted in murder case of prominent human rights activist, Jaleel Andrabi.
Advocate Arshad Andrabi, who has already applied before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate for further investigations into Jaleel’s (his brother) killing, said that the police had been shielding the Major for the last many years by delaying the necessary action.
“An army officer who is involved in almost nine murders has been let off by the police. Instead of arresting him, police has given him freedom to enjoy a luxurious life in western countries,” Arshad Andrabi pleaded before the CJM, Mohammad Ibrahim Wani. He asked the court to direct the prosecution to bring in the travel records of Major Avtar Singh.
The court directed the prosecution to submit a status report on the steps taken so far in the matter besides objections, if any, in the application filed by Jaleel’s brother for further investigations into the matter.
On February 15, the court had ordered the IGP (Crime) to take up the matter of extradition of Major Singh with the concerned agencies of the Indian government and authorities of Interpol in India.
