Srinagar, July 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the activists of Hindu fanatic organizations Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) attacked Kashmiri drivers and passengers on the Srinagar-Jammu highway on Monday.

The drivers who reached Srinagar from Jammu informed that a big mob of Hindu fanatics in Udhampur and Kud destroyed their vehicles after beating them and the Kashmiri passengers to pulp. They also pelted stones at more than 100 vehicles owned by Kashmiris on the highway.

An injured driver, Nazir Ahmed, pointing at his vandalised vehicle said, “We were stopped in Udhampur and severely beaten by the Hindu mob. Besides destroying my vehicle, two more vehicles were torched in front of me.”  He further said that the mob was only attacking vehicles of Kashmiris.

Narrating the ordeal, another driver Abdul Rehman said that Hindu fundamentalists beat him while police was watching silently. “We even appealed the police to stop the attackers but they did nothing,” he added.

Terming the role of Jammu police criminal, the President of Action Committee Against Land Transfer (ACALT), Mian Abdul Qayoom said, “The Police is hand-in-glove with the Hindu extremists. They want to divide the people of Jammu and Kashmir on communal lines.” He added that Kashmiris would not allow such forces to succeed in their nefarious designs.
