Hindu fanatics attack Muslims in Jammu region

Jammu, July 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the activists of Hindu fanatic organizations selectively targeted Muslims at many places in Jammu region, creating a sense of insecurity among them.

An ambulance belonging to the district hospital Rajouri was on its way to Jammu with a patient. The ambulance was carrying a Hindu family. But on reaching Hasyote area of Sunderbani tehsil, the activists of Bajrang Dal conducted identification parade of all persons on board. After they came to know that the driver of the vehicle was a Muslim, they started beating him mercilessly with rods till he fell unconscious. Later, he was shifted to a hospital where his condition is critical. Many such incidents have been reported from other parts of the district.

Khurshid Ahmed Tantray of Palma village of the district told a local daily over phone that four shops belonging to Muslims were damaged and looted in the village. Similar incidents have also been reported from the far-flung areas of the district. A bus carrying Madrassa students while passing through Jawaharnagar area was stoned by Hindu extremists.

Expressing concern over the selective attacks, human rights activist, Ajaz Ahmed Mirza said that he has received dozens of complaints of selective attacks by Bajrang Dal activists.

Muslims in Surankote area of Poonch district took out a big procession in the town and raised anti-Bajrang Dal slogans for their anti-Muslim activities. The protesters warned the puppet administration of dire consequences if these organizations were not controlled from attacking Muslims.

Meanwhile, indefinite curfew has been imposed in Samba district after a Hindu mob torched some houses of Muslims in the area. The situation in Jammu district remained tense despite curfew in place. The Hindu parties including Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), Shiv Sena and Bajrang Dal were protesting against the revocation of the transfer of forestland. Protestors from Muthi, Purkhoo and Domana areas in Jammu held rallies and blocked Jammu-Poonch highway.
