High court issues notice to Mirwaiz

Jammu, May 04 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has issued a notice to the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a case pertaining to alleged pro-Pakistan and pro-freedom slogans at the Jammu airport on 2nd February, 2006, asking him to file his reply within a week.

In his petition, the extremist BJP leader, Som Nath, had alleged that Mirwaiz and his supporters, assembled outside the Jammu airport, raised anti-India and pro-Pakistan and pro-freedom slogans when Mirwaiz landed there on his return from New Delhi.

Som Nath lodged a written complaint in the Satwari police station Jammu, on February 3rd, 2006 after which he filed a case in the court of the chief judicial magistrate, Jammu, on April 12, 2006. The court returned the complaint saying that it should be filed in a competent court. 

The petitioner filed another complaint in the court of principal district judge, Jammu, on April 15, 2006, which was forwarded to the second additional district and sessions judge. On 19th April 2006, the court dismissed the petition after which Som Nath filed an appeal in the high court.  On 2nd May 2008, the high court issued a notice to Mirwaiz asking him to file his reply within a week. The court ordered registration of a case against him and its investigation by the police.
